Let’s get botanical
While we have an average of 284 days of sunshine each year in Los Angeles (yet another reason why we live in the best city in America), colorful blooms aren’t always a year-round wonder. In fact, the best time to peep petals is, well, right now. Spring has undoubtedly sprung in LA and the city has come alive with stunning garden tours in several of SBP’s real estate ‘hoods—stretching from Beverly Hills to Pacific Palisades. But perhaps the best part? You can steal some killer landscaping tips and tricks along the way to bring into your own abode. Get a glimpse of the SBP team’s favorite garden excursions below and rose to the occasion.
Virginia Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills
Head to Beverly Hills’ iconic Virginia Robinson Gardens on May 18 for a garden tour unlike any other. The special Oh! Naturale event, held at the historic Robinson mansion, will bring you through the estate’s private, exotic gardens showcasing unique floral arrangements and boutique vendors. Oh, and better yet? There’ll be a healthy lunch buffet from one of LA’s top caterers and a live fashion show by Paris-based Ba&sh. The Robinson Gardens was once the site of lavish Hollywood parties (with guests like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Sophia Loren and Elvis Presley), so be sure to put those pinkies up.
The Garden Conservancy Tour in Hancock Park
Fact: Sundays are a whole lot better in nature. So on May 5, make your way to Hancock Park to explore five private, lush gardens—from the quaint “Meadow Lane” to the serene Rheinstein Garden. At just $10 per garden or $40 for a day pass, all ticket proceeds benefit the Garden Conservancy, a nonprofit designed to save and share outstanding American gardens for the education and inspiration of the public. We’re always willing to have a green thumb for a great cause. Plus, every tour offers epic garden inspo.
The Getty Villa Gardens in Pacific Palisades
Sure, you’ve been to the Getty Villa. But have you been on one of their garden tours? The Pacific Palisades jewel has four gardens that blend Roman architecture with open air spaces, sweet sculptures and Mediterranean plants, showcasing over 300 varieties of plants. That being said, if you’ve ever considered building a serene grotto at home, put the Getty Villa Gardens at the top of your Pinterest list. The forty-minute tours are held four days a week between 10:30am and 3:30pm, so plan accordingly and get your green on.
Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge
Make your way east this weekend for the ultimate urban retreat to Descanso Gardens. While the sprawling 150-acre botanical garden has a variety of blooms throughout the year, there’s no better time to visit than in the spring. This month, get a glimpse of azaleas and camellias, then head back in May for a peek at vibrant roses and wildflowers. There are countless events to partake in at Descanso, from Spring Bloom Walks to Mother’s Day Brunch and live music performances. A whole world of wow awaits.
