The season of giving invites connection, gratitude, and a reminder that 'home' is the people we gather with, the communities we build, and the moments we make a difference. At Smith & Berg Property Group, “home for the holidays” is more than a festive phrase — it’s a reflection of how we show up for our city year-round.
Earlier this year, our commitment to service was recognized with the Philanthropic Impact Award at The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Broker Awards, a meaningful honor that underscores the work we hold close to heart. Here’s how we carry that spirit of service into the season — and how you can give back across the LA community.
Supporting Our Community
The holidays amplify the importance of giving, a commitment we honor year-round. SBP donates a portion of each sale to organizations making a genuine impact. These partnerships, along with the team’s support of local educational institutions such as The Village School, Kenter Canyon Elementary, and USC, reflect our belief that communities are built and will thrive through strong, continual support.

Concern Foundation for Cancer Research: Funding groundbreaking research to advance treatments and ultimately eradicate cancer, while offering hope to individuals and families impacted by the disease. SBP supports their mission to drive scientific progress and empower those navigating a difficult journey.
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: Advancing critical research, specialized care, and life-extending treatments for those living with cystic fibrosis. SBP is proud to back their ongoing efforts to improve outcomes, accelerate innovation, and support families nationwide.
ACLU, Phase One & NAACP: Championing civil liberties, equal rights, and scientific advancements that benefit communities everywhere. SBP supports these organizations’ collective work toward justice, equity, and meaningful progress for all.
Simple Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season
You don’t need grand gestures to make a difference. Sometimes the most impactful acts are the most accessible, and meaningful for all ages. Here are a few ways you can lean into the spirit of service this December:
→ Donate to a local nonprofit. Whether it’s $10 or $100, consistency matters more than scale.
→ Clean out your pantry and participate in a neighborhood food drive.
→ Support small local businesses, especially those run by families, artisans, or first-generation entrepreneurs.
→ Drop off warm coats or new socks at community shelters, which see a spike in need this time of year.
→ Assemble care kits with your kids — fill bags with hygiene items, snacks, or handwritten notes for unhoused neighbors.
→ Have children pick out a toy to donate to a holiday toy drive, teaching them the joy of giving to someone their own age.
“Every holiday season, my kids take time to sort through their rooms and set aside toys and other items they’ve outgrown. When the items are still in good condition, we personally deliver them to Upward Bound House, an organization in our community that offers emergency housing and vital support services to homeless families with children.” — Courtney Welsh, Director of Operations
