Make your sweet (local) escape.
On the SBP team, we love getting away every once in awhile. Especially F. Ron, who’s still keeping it as fresh as ever after 31 years of marriage. But the best part of living in Los Angeles? We needn’t stray very far to experience the ultimate escape. Our city is full of killer local hotels—from relaxing beach retreats to chic urban oases—that make for the perfect staycation. Below, get a glimpse of the 6 spots that we’re booking this summer for an epic down-the-street getaway.
Nobu Ryokan
When it comes to beachfront hotels in Los Angeles, Nobu Ryokan reigns supreme. You can find F. Ron devouring Nobu’s killer black miso cod at lunch then retreating to his favorite staycation hideaway for a relaxing day on the ever-exclusive Carbon Beach. Each guest suite at Nobu Ryokan has a super minimalist, Japanese aesthetic that instantly puts your mind, body and soul at ease. Hellooo serenity.
Terranea Resort
Trevor‘s staycation pick? Terranea Resort, obviously. It’s like the Mediterranean but less than an hour car ride from home. Perched above the coastal bluffs of Palos Verdes with sweeping Pacific Ocean views, the resort has an award-winning golf course, four pools, a luxurious spa, several restaurants (Nelson’s for the win) and a kids club, making it a perfect little getaway for everyone in the fam.
Shutters on the Beach
When David and his wife are itching for a beach retreat without leaving the little ones for too long, they’ll make their way to Shutters on the Beach. The iconic Santa Monica hotel has a luxurious Cape Cod vibe just steps from the sand, serving up unrivaled sunsets each night—which, of course, are best witnessed from Coast (the hotel’s beachfront restaurant) with a glass of rosé in hand.
Waldorf Astoria
When Rick needs some R&R, he’ll head to the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. We all deserve a little bit of royal treatment every once in awhile, right? The glamorous hotel is a true city sanctuary, complete with deluxe rooms, a sweet rooftop bar and pool with stunning skyline views and an indulgent spa. Plus, Jean-Georges is right down stairs. Who can say no to that?
Malibu Beach Inn
As Morty often tells us, Malibu Beach Inn is one of LA’s best-kept staycation joints—until now (sorry Morty). Located along a strip of coastline called Billionaire’s Beach in Malibu, the boutique hotel has all the luxuries you’d expect from a high-end resort but all of the familiarity of home. Escape for the whole weekend without ever leaving—dine at Carbon Beach Club Restaurant, get a massage at the spa, stand up paddle board right out front. This is beach living at its finest.
The Peninsula
Where does Sewit go without actually going anywhere? The Peninsula in Beverly Hills, of course. Whether she’s meeting friends for high tea (cheerio!) or making date night an overnight with her husband, The Peninsula never fails to deliver on luxury. The rooms are opulent, the food is sublime, the spa is decadent, the rooftop pool is heavenly. You get it, right?
