Our team is always scouting for the best new hotels to visit up and down the coast, so this week we’re feeling generous and sharing our findings. From a brand-new, design-centric boutique hotel in La Jolla to a modern-meets-organic retreat in Malibu, here are the top destinations we’re looking to book this fall.
Orli | La Jolla
A reimagined 1910s-era landmark building in the seaside village of La Jolla, Orli is a brand-new boutique hotel that offers the spirit of a homestay with just 13 rooms and suites featuring thoughtful design elements and amenities. Hotel Joaquin | Laguna Beach
Combining relaxed coastal style and one-of-a-kind vintage details, Hotel Joaquin is a true hidden gem nestled above Shaw’s Cove in Laguna Beach. Designed by Studio Robert McKinley, the 22-room oceanside boutique hotel brings an air of Montauk and St. Barths to Laguna with beautifully designed rooms, impeccable food and drinks at Saline, a relaxing pool and more.
Azure Sky | Palm Springs
Palm Springs is teeming with incredible hotels, but among the newest and most exciting is Azure Sky. Originally built in 1959, the exclusive 21-and-over hotel features just 14 guest rooms, each replete with mid-century-inspired design accents and a neutral desert palette, as well as a lobby bar and pool.
Conrad | DTLA
One of Los Angeles’ most anticipated hotel openings can be found at The Grand in DTLA. Heralded by the vision of legendary architect Frank Gehry, Conrad is a bona fide city oasis featuring luxury, contemporary rooms, a rooftop terrace with a private pool deck, a full-service spa and locally inspired dining. Sometimes you don’t have to go too far to escape, folks!
Hotel June | Malibu
From the team behind Proper Hotels comes Malibu’s brand-new Hotel June, a private enclave of mid-century bungalows on PCH that once housed famed writers, artists and musicians — including Bob Dylan, who wrote Blood on the Tracks here. Imbued with inviting, modern design, delicious food and thoughtful details, the boutique hotel offers just 13 bungalows, one of Malibu’s only hotel swimming pools and much more.
Hotel Ynez | Solvang
Located at the crossroads of Santa Ynez and Solvang, Hotel Ynez is a relaxed yet sophisticated retreat nestled in the heart of Santa Barbara wine country. The two-acre property is brimming with gardens, bonfire pits, a rustic outdoor pavilion, a 21-and-over pool and, of course, 18 thoughtfully designed bedrooms that offer a much-needed respite from urban living.
